BASIC Announces New HIPAA Compliance Service
PORTAGE, Mich., May 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — BASIC is proud to announce the launch of a new HIPAA Compliance service, adding to their already exceptional suite of HR and Compliance solutions for employers.
BASIC’s HIPAA Compliance service helps employers remain compliant with the burdensome requirements of the HIPAA Privacy & Security Rule by ensuring the security of protected medical records, addressing concerns and complaints regarding medical privacy, and ensuring the company’s HIPAA policy and practices are followed.
HIPAA violations can devastate an employer. The Office of Civil Rights (OCR) is authorized to fine employers $100 to $50,000 per violation for an accidental HIPAA violation. If the data breach is found to be deliberate, with intent to sell, transfer or use the information for commercial advantage, personal gain, or malicious harm, the Department of Justice can fine you up to $250,000 per violation, PLUS time served in jail (up to 10 years).
“With HIPAA violations and enforcement on the rise, now is the ideal time to provide employers with a comprehensive, easy to manage service designed to help them manage their HIPAA responsibilities and protect them from the liability associated with HIPAA violations,” says Rob Hayes, President of BASIC.
“Our HIPAA Service saves employers time and helps them better understand their HIPAA requirements and activities necessary to maintain compliance. During our web-based compliance training, the employers Privacy & Security Officer(s) and other staff who work with PHI / IHI will participant in four vital HIPAA eLearning courses. Clients will also receive BASIC’s comprehensive eCompliance Manual, which includes critical HIPAA policies, procedures, employer postings and forms needed to safeguard the employer,” adds Jen Helmholdt, BASIC’s Director of Compliance Services.
BASIC’s HIPAA service joins their already robust compliance suite of solutions which includes ACA Filing and ERISA administration. This new offering, in addition to BASIC’s other compliance services, will make it extremely easy for employers to access a one-stop-shop for all their compliance needs.
